About
Norm is a former elected School Board Trustee representing Spadina-Fort York, University-Rosedale, Toronto Centre and Toronto-St Paul's, as well as a community activist, and digital business transformation specialist who champions equity and innovative solutions to the many challenges facing us today. He has lived and worked in Spadina-Fort York for over 15 years, and has spent that time fighting for issues that matter to him and his community, including being the chair of NoJetsTO to fight airport expansion, co-founder of Waterfront for All to support a greener, more inclusive waterfront, and a founding member of Ontario Place For All which is working to preserve this Ontario Place as public land.
Norm wants to bring people together and change this city so that it works for everyone. He is a proven leader who has experience building consensus and working with communities to demand better of their government, and having success.
Like many people in Toronto, Norm's family rents and have faced the realities of a renoviction. It was through this experience, one fraught dread over having to look for an affordable place in Toronto, that Norm decided this is not healthy, and it is not the way it has to be.
Since being elected in 2018 as a School Board Trustee, he has helped to oversee a billion-dollar budget, and governed through issues related to childrens’ education through the pandemic. He is also on the board of the Angel Foundation, a not-for-profit student nutrition & equity organization that feeds over 60,000 children daily and ensures that no student is forced to go without the nutrition or anything else they need to succeed at school.
Norm has run his own small business in the past, and understands the challenges and insecurities facing working people and small businesses across the City.
